Lying along 40 km of the Island's north shore, the landscape varies from sand dunes, beaches, and red sandstone cliffs to salt marshes and fresh water ponds. The star residents are the fragile piping plover and the great blue heron. Green Gables House, the home immortalized by Lucy Maud Montgomery, attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world. Another favourite site is Dalvay-by-the-Sea, once the secret headquarters for the Island's legendary prohibition-era rum running., Source type: Electronic(1)
