Abstract

A portfolio containing stamps from the joint issue between Japan Post and Canada Post Corporation to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the publication of "Anne of Green Gables". The stamps depict images from the 1979 anime of "Anne of Green Gables". The anime was directed by Isao Takahata and the scene setting and layout was done by Hayao Miyazaki who would later go on to found Studio Ghibli together. It also features the two Canadian stamps. The stamp featuring Anne was illustrated by Ben Stahl and the one featuring Green Gables was illustrated by Christopher Kovacs.
